Andy Warhol [Historical Photographer]

Andy Warhol has always been an influence to be. I got to see a show of his work once in London and it was great seeing it in person. One thing I really liked about the show was the size of his pieces. The large size of the Double Elvis made the work stand out.

I also enjoyed see the Marilyn Monroe pieces. I could tell the thought and time he put into choosing the colors. For instance, all of their eye shadows match the background. This might just be a subtle things but it ties the piece together.

Warhol was known for his influence on Pop Art. This movement made art out of iconic subjects, such as soup cans and dollar bills. He was able to make art out of the ordinary.

  1. I don't know how one could look up to Warhol. He has sent art spiraling in the wrong direction Fine art that is. The quality of his images are poor and his responsibility for the Frankenstein type monster Damien Hirst is just shameful . There are many armature photographers on the internet that know more about beauty then these guys would in a thousand years. In saying that there is a lot to learn from their conceptual musings but it only teaches me of the evils of collectors and money.

  2. then you missed the point of art. Art doesn't conform to you, you adapt to it. Or you don't. Art makes a reaction in you, if you don't react to it in a positive way, that's fine, art doesn't care and will be there for the next person to react.
Warhol did many things, as we all do, and some was better than the rest. But as we all have a way of doing things, like Norman Rockwell, Frederick Remington, etc, Warhol's just isn't your thing to appreciate. Art doesn't care, so, move along, go find something you prefer!
Warhol's gift was making money from ordinary nonsense. Marilyn Monroes photo, and the soup can. You can bag on him, call his work shit, but he still earned more than you, and enjoyed a life of the wealthy.
His work with Mercedes was interesting in it's color but variation in the repetition... https://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2014/01/andy-warhol-i-didnt-know-hed-made-other.html
And he bought and sold a 55 857 Ferrari with the profits... you go ahead and tell me that's not impressive
